My top Vegetarian Foods/Meat free alternatives | #NationalVegetarianWeek

Something that I have heard a lot since following a meat free diet and eating alternatives instead is "You may as well eat the real thing."

Why is that? When there are great "meaty" alternatives, what is the benefit of eating actual meat? I feel less guilty when eating faux meat for one, and there are plenty of reasons why people choose not to eat the "real thing". I won't go into them now, but instead I thought I would share my favourite meat free "meat".

I am going to focus on 3 brands for this post, and talk about 3 products from each that I love so very much. The 3 brands are; Quorn, Linda McCartney and Cauldron. There are many others but these are the 3 I have the most "experience" with.

Quorn

My top three foods from Quorn are their "Chicken" Nuggets, Hot Dogs (Great for BBQ's) and Mince (as it is so versatile!)

The nuggets taste so much like a Chicken version, and the hot dogs are great too. I love using the mince in pasta or chilli's. You just have to take a quick glance at Quorn's website to see how many options they really have.

Linda McCartney

My top three foods from Linda McCartney are their Mozzarella Burgers (even if you are not veggie, you need to try these. They are so so so yummy!), Sausage Rolls (so close to the classic) and the classic Sausages, which again are very "sausagey" tasting.

I think Linda McCartney are the best for the most "meatiest" tasting. I honestly don't know how they do it, their food is bloody amazing. It is slightly more expensive than Quorn, but a lot of places like Iceland sell it at a reasonable price.

Cauldron

Cauldron is mostly Vegan which is great, and my personal favourites from them include their Falafels, Koftas, and the Bean Melts. They do sausages and burgers too, but they tend to focus more on authentic, vegetable based products.

I hope you liked this post. It is always great to spread awareness of great Veggie alternatives, to show that you do not need to have animal meat in order to enjoy a delicious meal!

Bye for now,
