Why turning 18 scares the crap out of me

Image
It’s well into September of 2017, which means only one thing. The school year I turn 18. What I mean by this is it’s the start of people who I grew up with, went to school with, am friends with, turning 18. This scares me greatly. Most people can’t wait until their 18th birthday. They can’t wait to “legally” be able to do all the things they have wanted to do and have been doing anyway since they were 15. Me, well I’m shitting it.

I am not a big partier so the whole “going out” thing doesn’t bother me too much. Yes, I will now and then, but it’s not something I’m desperate to do. There are so many things that terrify me about turning 18, here a few.
·University. Do I want to go? Do I not? ·What am I doing life wise for that matter? ·Adult prices of things (boo hoo) ·Pressure. I ain’t a kid anymore. ·Where have all the years gone? Can I just press restart? ·More on that matter, I felt like I wasted my teen years for so many reasons. That makes me sad, and I feel like turning 18 signifies a…

Random Rambles – Damaging relationships & escaping

Image
I want to briefly touch on something so huge one today. It’s something I hate to talk about so I’ll keep it short. Not sweet though...
If people like me to talk about these things, then maybe I will go into it a bit more, either in a video or another blog post. Just let me know any (advice based) questions you may have and I’ll either answer them on my blog or YouTube channel.
Anyways, what I did want to talk about is damaging relationships and what they can do to you. First off, they obviously damage you, but they don’t and won’t ever define who you are. That’s something I struggled (and still struggle) with greatly as for a huge portion of my life I was linked to that person, both positively and negatively. It was me & them. Them & me, and that’s something I still struggle to overcome.

I felt so tied to this person/romantic interest for so many reasons. One of which is because I spent 6 years of my life “on and off” with them, meaning a lot of the time people associated us wit…

Feeling stressed whilst on HOLIDAY?!

Have you ever been on holiday to get away from the daily stresses of life and end up feeling more stressed?
A place to relax? A recent study reveals stresses of work travel on holiday with us…
●     A third of the nation admit to feeling stressed while away on holiday due to work concerns ●     45% of the UK’s population feel that practicing mindfulness activities while away will combat stress issues ●     A third of the UK keep on top of work emails while on holiday
Personally, I can often find the whole “switching off” thing hard. I find it difficult to stop thinking about what needs to be done, and instead concentrate on the here and now. I wish I could just relax, and enjoy being away from the things that are causes me stress/anxiety, whether that be work, my Blog/YouTube or even home life.
Being a blogger/YouTuber makes this even harder. Being away/on holiday is, let’s face it, a perfect opportunity for content. Whether it’s a city break, or a beach vacation, there’s always content t…

#CharityTuesday – Alfie’s Story | Alder Hey

Welcome to a new series on my blog, where every Tuesday I’ll be shedding light on the important stuff. As much as I enjoy writing about makeup and beauty and food and all things like that, it is equally as important to me to share stories of inspirational people and the work some amazing charities do for these brave souls. I'm doing this in the hope to raise awareness – I want to use my platform in the best ways I can, and I feel as if just by you reading this, you may learn something new, feel inspired, or go and show some love to the charity I’ve mentioned. That would be incredible! Love doesn’t equal payment. Donations are always welcome by charities, but retweets, shares, likes and general support never goes unnoticed.
Alder Hey Alder Hey Children’s Charity raises vital funds to help make Alder Hey in the Park a truly world-class, patient-friendly hospital for the 275,000 patients and families they care for every year. I'd like you to meet one of them – a patient who has bee…

Malée Natural Skincare | Conscious Luxury | Conditioning body scrub review

Image
Something I struggle with quite a lot is dry skin. Sounds disgusting I know, but we've all been there. Whether it's on my face or my legs, it's very irritating and often difficult to remove and prevent. I'm also lazy, which doesn't help. I hate getting out of the shower and applying an ultra thick body lotion and THEN having to wait for it all to sink in, which it never does properly, and THEN it also leaves your skin feeling kinda sticky. I'm all for a 2 in 1 kinda product. Anything to save time and make the process easier, I'm all for. So when Malée reached out and asked if I wanted to try their conditioning body scrub**, I said hell yes.

This body scrub is game changing. It's no wonder it's won an award! It's formula is everything I could want in a scrub. Effective but gentle, moisturizing yet not greasy. There's not loads you can say about a body scrub - but I can say this WORKS. It removes any dead skin that just won't go, and it l…

Superdrug Naturally Radiant Skincare

Image
Yesterday on a mad Superdrug dash, I picked up some products from a range I'd never tried before, Superdrug's own Naturally Radiant range. I usually enjoy Superdrug's own ranges, I've tried a few in the past, including the B makeup line and the Vitamin E collection.

The first thing I got was the Naturally Radiant Refreshing Complete Cleanser. It states it is for normal to combination skin, which I thought would be good for me. It promises to awake skin's natural glow, as well as cleansing and toning. It says it has the ability to remove makeup and it calls itself a 3 in 1 action formula. As I only got these yesterday I can't give a full review, but so far, so good. It smells lovely, really luxurious, like it should have cost a significant amount more. It feels lovely on the skin too, not too stripping, and I felt like it cleansed my skin well, as it left me with that cool refreshed feeling. As for the removing makeup part, I'm more inclined to use this as a…

Happy Birthday Tamzin Lena

Image
2 years ago today, this blog was created. I remember the day clearly. I was bored, it was the summer holidays, and I clicked publish for the first time. I remember the thoughts I thought, I remember the feeling that oozed through me. The excitement, the wonder, the nerves. It was a mixed bag, and that is how it's remained, 2 years down the line.

If I'd had never had clicked that lil button, so many things wouldn't have happened. I wouldn't have made online blogging friends, gone on blogging dates in the early days, stayed up endless nights to get a post done, I would have never started a YouTube channel, I wouldn't be where I am today. This blog has grown with me. It's seen the ups, and the downs. It's a part of me. It is me. To the core. There's embarrassing old posts on here which make me cringe, and there's posts that have gone missing along the way because they got a lil deep. There's random photography posts, and there's my innermost th…

My perfect easy brownies recipe! #100thpost

Image
Happy 100th post! I can't believe I have hit publish over 100 times! I say over because lets be real here, a few posts have gone "missing" along the way. Talking of this journey, it's been a crazy one. I started this blog almost 2 years ago, (August 15th is my blog-anniversary, I have a special post lined up for that) and a lot has changed since then. I know I've not been the most consistent - but that is just a representation of what my life has been like - up and down. I hope to start posting more on my blog - because I do truly love it, and I hope to really push myself, start doing new things and exploring new avenues. But for today, the purpose of this post - I thought I would do a post I do pretty well if I say so myself, and that's a baking one. I say pretty well as in I guess the composition is okay... and the food tastes good lol.

You will need:

NEW L'Oreal eye paints

Image
Get ready for a lot of photos and a lot of beautifulness. You ready?

Here we go.

How stunning are these? They are brand new liquid eye shadows from L'Oreal, coming in at just £6.99 each. I also got mine on a 3 for 2, meaning with student discount I only paid £10 for all 3. I've only tried one on my eyes, the shade Nudist, but from what I seen so far I love these A LOT. They are so quick, easy and effortless to apply, they blend out like a dream and make for the perfect everyday eye look. The metallic shade, Cocky Bisque, would make an amazing inner corner highlight, as well as looking unreal as a pop of shine on the lids. The orangey shade, Sunset Goals, is perfect for this time of year. It's a way to incorporate the latest trend, whilst adding colour - to a certain extent.

Have you tried these? If so, let me know what you think. I want more! Tell me what shades I should check out next.

Bye for now,
Tamzin xxx

My fabulous friend Fran

I'm writing this post whilst sat chatting to a friend of mine on facetime, Francesca, who I've known for years. About 13 years to be precise. She is such a lovely, genuine, caring gal and I wanted to tell you a bit about her.

She's smart, sassy and sweet. She's cool, collected and considerate. She's the kind of person you need in your life. Me and Fran have always stayed in contact regardless of life, and I think it shows the kind of person she is, and the kind of relationship we have. We can go a while without talking, without seeing each other, but once we rejoice, it feels like nothing has changed. She makes me smile just like she did when we were 6 and danced together on a pair of ladders in her living room, dressed in tutus and singing High School Musical.

I'm telling you about Fran today because she has just done something super cool, to match her dazzling, open and wonderful personality. She's started her very own blog, and you can find it here - htt…

Sunday treat // Buy one get one free on selected Real Techniques

Image
Hey hey! Don't you just love a good ol' treat post? Today's post certainly lives up to previous ones in the terms of excitement and bargainess (if that's a word). Let's get on with it.

Real techniques make some of my favourite brushes, so when I saw they had a buy one get one free deal on I had to grab some. I ended up picking up the sculpting brush and the blush brush. The sculpting brush is a dense "buffing" style brush, whilst still being incredibly soft. I can imagine this being perfect for foundation or cream contouring. I picked this up initially for my colourpop highlighter, as I wanted something synthetic and dense, as the highlighters have a weird creamy powder consistency. On second thought, it might be a bit big, so I'll probs use it for the other uses I mentioned before. I really want the setting brush - I think that would be perfect, but it is always out of stock. I'm desperate to get my hands on it.

The second brush I picked up was t…

Saturday treat // Buy 1 get 1 half price on Maybelline

Image
Who remembers when I used to Saturday Treat posts? It's been a while, so credits to you if you've been around that long. I used to find good deals in superdrug or boots on beauty items, and share my finds with you over my blog. They were my favourite kind of posts to do, so I thought I'd resurrect them and show you my latest picks.
the deal in question is the maybelline buy one get one half price. I love these sort of deals as it's not as big of a commitment or splurge as the general 3 for 2, but it still allows you to get something significantly cheaper than its RRP.
First of all, and the most expensive item of the two, making it the one I paid full price for, was the master strobing liquid in Light/iridescent. I've been wanting this for a while as it has been compared to the Cover FX drops, which are gorgeous, but at £34, expensive. This product retails for £6.99, making it a bargain if it is similar. It comes in two shades, the other one is of a warmer tone w…
